In October-- seems like last week!-- my CT introduced the abstract concept of rounding to our class... with THIS awesome YouTube video:
In a mini lesson we talked about the importance of rounding (when you would use it and how it would be beneficial) and tested out our very shaky, very raw skills. My CT passed out lyric sheets and pulled this video up on the mimeo.
Before we knew the kids were rapping their way through rounding. It was awesome. Students were rounding, moving and dancing to the beat. The best part? They were totally getting it!
Ever since that initial rounding lesson the students use this rap as a resource/reference for their rounding. They sing it on the playground, during bell work and during review tests and worksheets. I have even caught myself singing it a time or two.
